Rob van Rijswijk (1971) and Jeroen Strijbos (1970) both graduated cum laude from the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht in Music Technology, specialisation Electronic & Computer Composition and Applied Composition. They then achieved a Media MA in Electronic Composition. In Norway they had the advantage of a residence at the “Høgskole i Telemark Raulandsakademiet” in Rauland and as guest lecturers wrote a number of autonomous compositions in the Oslo NoTAM studios.
Both are specialised in electro-acoustic compositions. Work by Van Rijswijk and Strijbos features both nationally and internationally in, amongst others, Germany, Belgium, Belorussia, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, and also
in Beijing and Shanghai.
They set a large number of film, dance and theatre projects to music, in artistic interaction with directors like Lodewijk Crijns, Peter de Kock and choreographers like Kristel van Issum of T.R.A.S.H. The dance performances Unmade Beds
and Rush respectively received nominations for the Dutch VSCD dance prize De Zwaan,for the most impressive dance performance of the 2005 season and the Kölner Tanz- und Theaterpreise Cologne 2006.
In the field of audiovisual media they wrote music for, amongst others, the Dutch cinema release Jezus is een Palestijn,the RVU documentary De Vliegende Tijdand the VPRO television animation series Eefje Wentelteefje TV-
show.
In 2007, they developed the three-dimensional sound installation SoundSpots, in which the compositions are exclusively written for a specific location. They received composing commissions from the Fonds voor de Scheppende Toonkunst, Festival November Music Den Bosch and others. |
